About Us
Tēnā koutou!
I am a self taught Māori Artist based in Rotorua . My life is filled with raising 6 tamariki, being a Co- Principal of a Kura founded by my husband and I, and many years of leading and tutoring high level kapahaka. In between all of these things I painted - for 20+ years I squeezed it in.
In 2020, I decided to be more intentional in concentrating and putting time aside to paint, sell and market my Toi. Since then my art ,my practice, and my following has seen good growth.
I am most well known in my circles for painting Wāhine Māori. Empowering wāhine to see strength and beauty in themselves. This kaupapa began after I received my own my own Moko Kauae. In celebration, I painted wāhine that I thought exemplified true mana. These first image resonated with many.
But, I also have other contemporary styles that I am less known for, which encapsulate narratives of whakapapa, mana whenua and katitiakitanga that I enjoy exploring.
I have commissioned pieces currently displayed at Waiariki Spa and Rotorua Arts Village.
